SUPPORTIVE HOUSING

Exodus Homes is a faith-based, non-profit organization located in Hickory, North Carolina, dedicated to providing supportive housing for individuals recovering from addiction, incarceration, and homelessness. Although our program is physically based in Hickory, our impact stretches far beyond. Residents come to us from across North Carolina—including Mecklenburg, Iredell, Lincoln, Cabarrus, Catawba, and Buncombe counties—as well as from out of state, as far away as New York, New Jersey, and even the western U.S. This widespread reach speaks to both the depth of the need and the strength of our reputation for effective recovery support.

As a proud United Way agency, Exodus Homes offers a comprehensive array of services designed to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our residents. We provide safe, structured housing across multiple levels of support, tailored to the unique challenges faced by individuals in recovery, recently released from incarceration, or experiencing homelessness.

Our program offers more than just a roof overhead. Every resident lives in a structured, closely supervised environment with clearly defined levels of accountability and growth. We support residents in building essential life skills such as employment readiness, financial literacy, healthy social interaction, and effective coping strategies. Opportunities for spiritual development and peer support are also integral parts of the journey, reinforcing a strong foundation for lasting recovery.

Just as important, Exodus provides something many of our residents have never truly experienced—a genuine sense of community. For those who have lived on the margins, often isolated and unseen, Exodus becomes a place where they are welcomed, supported, and valued. This belonging is the heart of transformation and hope.

PEER SUPPORT & MENTORSHIP

Recovery is a journey, and no one should walk it alone. Our residents receive personalized peer support from trained professionals who have firsthand experience with recovery. These mentors provide guidance, encouragement, and accountability, helping residents navigate sobriety, personal growth, and reintegration into the community.

Our residents obtain job readiness and employment opportunities through Exodus Works, our vocational training program that equips residents with skills, discipline, and dignity in the workplace.

IN-HOUSE RECOVERY MEETINGS

Residents participate in two mandatory weekly recovery meetings led by senior members of our program. These meetings foster a strong support network where residents share experiences, build connections, and stay committed to their recovery journey.

Through these meetings, residents receive substance abuse recovery support, including 12-step meetings, mentoring, and faith-based encouragement.

Stories of Redemption

Reggie Longcrier Exodus Homes

Joseph

I was born here in Hickory. I was raised in an alcoholic family. All my life, I saw my father, mother, uncles, and friends drink and do drugs, so I thought that this was the way of life—until it led me to juvenile detention.
